The three Anna2050 plans have been finalized and adopted. You can review the full plan documents here:
A Joint Workshop for the Anna 2050 process was held on August 11, 2020. Invited participants included all members of the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Parks Board, Economic Development Corporation/Community Development Corporation (EDC/CDC) Boards of Directors, and the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Task Force (CPATF). For this meeting, two formats were used. First, a live workshop session at Sue Evelyn Elementary School was conducted in person with all members of the boards, while concurrently a virtual session was conducted via the online video conferencing software Zoom. In both meetings, participants focused on providing input and feedback on the draft Vision Statement and Guiding Principles of the Comprehensive Plan. Following that exercise, participants were broken into small groups and analyzed their respective portions of the city to provide a basis for the land use and development scenarios and patterns for Anna in 2050. After the workshop, an online survey gave participants an additional opportunity to provide feedback on the topics discussed and ideas generated by the workshop teams. The survey was available to invited participants from August 19 through August 30, 2020.
On July 7th and 8th, One on One stakeholder interviews were conducted to gather further insight on the key attributes of the community as they relate to the overarching makeup of Anna. The intent of these interviews was to gain perspective from a diverse background of participants, which included key individuals who have a stake in the community from the development and business community as well as key landowners, community leaders, and local organizations. In this meeting, the consultant team presented an overview of existing conditions, provided a summary of the demographic and psychographic information, and provided background on what a Comprehensive Plan is and does. Following the background information, the consultant team discussed key issues with the stakeholders and asked for their perspectives on key topics.
On June 16, 2020, the State of the City Work Session was held, which was an exercise in evaluating and mapping the existing conditions of the city as it relates to key attributes of the community. In that meeting, the consultant team presented a summary of the background research completed to date, gave a broad overview of the existing conditions mapping, and a report on the demographic and psychographic makeup of the city. City staff was asked to provide input as it relates to their areas of expertise on these matters.
The first meeting of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Task Force was held on June 25, 2020. At this meeting, the consultant team presented a summary of the background research completed to date. Task Force members used a series of ‘stations’ to share their ideas about the future of Anna. A facilitated discussion allowed all members to consider these ideas, and keypad polling was used to gain insights from the Task Force about the importance of a wide range of issues.
On June 9, 2020, the Anna City Council nominated a group of Anna neighbors to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Task Force (CPATF). The role of this Task Force is to serve as a review and advisory body for the Comprehensive Plan, Downtown Master Plan, and Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan throughout the planning process. Task Force members will serve as ambassadors to the community to inform them about the planning process and encourage everyone to participate and build support for the draft plan.
